More more more more Bubbles

Someone was very excited about bubbles tonight...thought this was too cute to not share...

Hiking!

Quinn loves to hike.  Whenever he sees a "mountain" (any hill not covered with homes) he points it out and says, "moun'an, hike!"  In fact, whenever we pass by the street that leads to Mission Trails Regional Park, Quinn points in that direction exclaiming, "hike" excitedly.  This morning Q, Nana and I went for a short hike at Mission Trails, which is a great park only about 10 minutes away from home.  We chose a ~1 mile loop trail that went up along a small creek and through a grove of oak trees.

On the trail, stick in pocket:

"Marching" with Nana:

Favorite activity: throwing rocks into the water

Current favorite animal: snakes

Trip to SeaWorld

Jeff is in Norway for 2 weeks, so Nana and Gogo came out from Savannah to play with their favorite (and only) grandson.  They are a tremendous help.  Without them I would not have been able to work for the past week.  Quinn is having a ball with them, and I think they are enjoying him almost as much.  :)   Q and I took a trip to SeaWorld this past weekend.  In many ways I find SeaWorld to be overrated, but the playground/splashpark is a huge hit with this kid.  Here are a few photos I snapped with my phone:

Trains!!!

Do all little boys love trains as much as ours does?  Months ago he started showing a preference for his wooden train toy - he would spend hours pushing it through the "tunnel" (cat scratch thingy).  He also started chanting "choo choo" whenever we drove anywhere near the trolley, and would squeal with delight whenever the trolley passed while we watched.  For his birthday a few weeks ago he received a wooden train set.  This is his favorite thing.  He spends hours playing with it, then destroying it and running out to us, pieces in hand saying, "uh oh" frantically as though some unknown accident has befallen the poor unsuspecting track.  Then mom/dad repairs the broken tracks and the cycle repeats.

Aunt Emily is a genius.  She discovered the train museum in Balboa Park and took Jeff and Quinn there one afternoon.  It was a hit.

It was Thomas family day, so there were multiple train tables set up for the kids to play with.  Quinn didn't want to leave...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY QBERT!!

I can't believe my boy is already 2 years old!  Happy Birthday Quinny.  We had a small family gathering at Grammy's house on Saturday.

Vintage book Emily found!

Emily and Kim had perfect timing arriving in San Diego just in time to bake a cake for Quinn!  It was blue velvet and yummy!!  Cute too!

Aunt Jaime and Uncle John

Balloons always make a great toy....

...that is until they get away from you...

...I see it!...

...luckily it got caught up in the tree by the house...

...and Dad was able to come to the rescue...

...sadly, one of the balloons didn't make it through the rescue, but Uncle John made the most of it and created a most frightening mask!

Finally present time arrives and Emily assists

A cool personalized plate!

Bike!

The trains were a huge hit

So were the hotwheels

Love the curls!

I think Q approves of his cake!

Blow!

Mmmmmmm

Bedtime was a bit of a chore, because he didn't want to stop playing with the train set.  He actually slept with Thomas all night.  Amazing how entertained he is by pushing the trains along the tracks (and especially through the tunnel)!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all you mom's out there!!

We celebrated Mother's Day with Grammy, Jaime, John, Kyan, Emily, Kelly and Lee.  Quinn gave his aunt Jaime some flowers and a hug.

From the neighbor we received an antique toy fire engine.  The boys had a ball playing in it.  Kyan preferred to drive while Q enjoyed pushing and attempting to crash it into various objects.  Emily, always the good sport, made the kiddos quite happy pushing them up and down the sidewalk.

Unfortunately Quinn had a bit of a rough weekend...no naps, a runny nose, nasty cough...and tonight a fever of 102.  Sweet little boy had a great time in spite of feeling cruddy.   Let's hope he recovers by his birthday TOMORROW!

Weekend antics

The weekend started off with fun with cousin Kyan.  We'd planned on spending much of the weekend with Jaime and Kyan, but unfortunately both Jaime and Kyan got pretty sick (hopefully this string of illnesses will end soon!).  So on Saturday, instead of heading to the zoo or to Sea World, Quinn and I went out to get a hair cut.  It was not his best moment....attempts to get him into the chair were met with screams and flailing.  It took much cajoling to convince him that the hair stylist was not going to torture him.  He finally calmed down and now looks about 10 years older.  His favorite part of the experience was the train table:

Finally found a good helmet for the munchkin - apparently as long as it's blue he's okay with it....wore it around much of the morning!

As we do every sunday we walked to the Living Room Cafe to have breakfast with our friends Billy, Denise and little Evan.  Today Quinn was assigned the task of carrying his own toys to the cafe.

Reading as we go

This evening (Sunday) we had friends over for fish tacos on the deck.  Quinn had a good time with their daughter, Quin and son, Graeson.  Didn't take any photos tonight, but couldn't resist getting a quick clip of this funny little make-out session between the Quin(n)s:
