Jeff in Oaxaca - Monte Alban

Today - Saturday - I walked up the mountains (I do A LOT of walking here) to a famous archaeological site called "Monte Alban". It was the capital of the Zapotecs and was founded several hundred years BC, flourishing until about 800 AD.

I won't say too much about my trip today except that I thoroughly enjoyed it. Here are a couple pics of the ruins outside...

The musuem contained lots of artifacts from in and around the ruins. Cool stuff like this...

The sun is a bit radiant here, so once at the ruins, I felt compelled to purchase a hat that would provide me with appropriate cover. Not bad for about $2.50, eh?

Who's that guy with the giant bubble head?
